Hi @projectbelgrade , what is the hack exactly / what specifically is illegal?
As said they are clearly stating to use EdgeTTS which clearly states to use private Windows 11/Edge TTS service.
This API is not in any way public or endorsed by Microsoft Corp.
This is illegal reverse engineering of their protocol used to get "free" TTS.
Microsoft legally provides that same service with same voices as part of Microsoft Azure, obviously it is not free there.
@lunarflu , to be clear here are the known facts:
- Microsoft has a TTS service
- It generally provides it via Microsoft Azure and charges for it
- It has decided to provide it for free in limited Windows 11 use cases (Microsoft Edge, accessibility services, not even 3rd party software)
- Someone hacked the protocol used in that service and published python script on how to access this for "free"
- It is used here.
This is their code that basically self-certifies DRM hack without hiding what it is:
no one cares belrade stop it
